Spring Equinox is associated with our sacral chakra. Its vibrant orange color symbolizes creativity, hope, renewal and rebirth. The monarch butterfly in many traditions is a symbol for the spring equinox. It is recognized by its orange and black wings and known for metamorphosis, transformation and enlightenment. This album is dedicated to inner awakening, rebirth, and connection. (Research by Brenda Lee Morrison )

Notes from the composer:
Since the turn of the millennium I have been playing mostly improvised concerts to honor the solstices and equinoxes on the Kawai concert grand piano in the Prayer Dome of the United Research Light Center in Black Mountain, NC. The Light Center has hosted me to record two CDs in the past; “Light Music” in 1996 and “Music of Peace,” recorded on the Kawai in 2006.
On the night of the Winter Solstice, in December 2022 i was facing some dark thoughts, wondering if I would ever record again. In the midst of these thoughts I realized that I was perfectly prepared to crystallize the music I’d been playing on the solstices and equinoxes into a four-album series of piano meditation recordings.
Spring Equinox Piano Meditations is the first offering of the series. It was recorded live in concert on March 18, 2023 and in private session on March 20, 2023 at the Light Center. This album also has a significant video component available here and wherever the music is streamed.
Special thanks to Leslie Cotney and Sarah Gayle at the Light Center for logistical and heartfelt support for this project! And special thanks to Tanya Gupta for finding the beauty in this music and expressing it through video.
To Listeners: May this music bless you and add to your joy…
